I was born and raised in Clutton, a village on the outskirts of Bristol, the same village Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones is from. I am a self taught artist and from around the age of 8 or 9 I have really loved music. The first scene I was into was 2 tone, with my first single and album by Madness, Embarrassment and Absolutely respectively. Along the way I have also witnessed the rise of the New Romantics, Indie, the British Goth scene, Hiphop, Madchester, Acid House, Grunge and Britpop.
I love live music, the first gig I went to was The Jesus and Mary Chain at Bristol Studios in 1987 and I’ve been going to gigs regularly since then. I’m also a Glastonbury Festival veteran (see picture below) going to everyone between 1992 and 2013. I have been lucky enough to have seen some legends live including a lot that are no longer with us like David Bowie, Prince, Johnny Cash, James Brown, Jeff Buckley, Joe Strummer, Amy Winehouse and Leonard Cohen among many others.
I have also always had an interest in art, especially pop art. I love the works of Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol especially and try to get to get to the Tate Modern to stand in front of Whaam! for a while whenever I am in London. I always wished I could play an instrument but sadly I dont have a musical bone in my body, but while working at a hotel in Bristol a few years ago I doodled a picture of Joe Strummer in biro and realised I may have a bit of a hidden talent with art. This has slowly built through painting for myself and doing the odd commission for friends and family to starting Twenty Seven Again
Away from music and art I am an avid long distance cyclist and as well as cycling around the countryside around Bristol I take part in a week long cycle ride most years. I also volunteer for the cycling charities Sustrans who run the National Cycle Network and Two’s Company who take visually impaired people out on tandem bike rides
To create the images I first draw the outline out using a pencil then fill the image in using artist pens and a pot of ink and a paintbrush. I then pick a colour I think suits the person in the portrait when visiting the printer. I am also still doing individual commissions as well as the prints shown in my galleries, if you are interested in this please use the contact page to get in touch so we can discuss your request
